We keep classes small and days unhurried, because that's how children stay curious — and how teachers really get to know them.
Cedarwood was founded by a group of Auckland teachers who believed primary school had become too crowded, too rushed, and too focused on ticking boxes. We built something gentler: a place where a child's questions matter more than their test scores, and where wonder is protected, not squeezed out.
Twelve children to a class. Teachers who stay for years. A garden, a kitchen, and a whole lot of time to explore. That's Cedarwood.
Every child is known, seen, and never left behind.
Academics, wellbeing, creativity and character, together.
Gardens, kitchens and excursions, not just worksheets.
Warm, involved families and teachers who stay for years.
"Our daughter went from dreading school to running to the gate every morning. That's the whole review."
— The Nguyen family, parents of a Year 3 student
